Dr. Bart Iaia
-
|
Dr. Bart Iaia is a 1992 graduate of Tufts University
School of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to veterinary school he
attended the University of Vermont and obtained his Bachelor of Science
in Animal Sciences. He has been practicing at emergency clinics
and general practice clinics in Maine and Washington. Dr. Bart (as
he commonly goes by) grew up in both New England and Florida. He moved
to Seattle in 1995, and fell in love with the climate and the beauty of
the Pacific Northwest.
“I have always admired Veterinary Medicine. It
truly is a profession that allows one to practice all aspects of
medicine.” His professional interests include dentistry, nutrition
and animal behavior. Dr. Iaia also has interests in complimentary
medicine and has completed courses in Lomilomi, an ancient Hawaiian
healing art. Lomilomi means to break up into smaller pieces.
True to way he was taught, he performs lomilomi on the ground.
This healing art can be applied to the veterinary field and many pets
enjoy the touch, and relax quickly during the session. It may be
likened to Reiki or other type of healing work but allows an
experience and honor all of its own. Please visit
kalama.org for more information regarding lomilomi.
Dr. Bart enjoys spending time with his wife Denise, their
daughter Brie, and their pets. Currently he has two dogs, one cat and a
fish. Hobbies include gardening, eating (and occasionally cooking) and
water skiing when the water is “just right.”

Dr. Brian Kane
-
|
Dr. Brian Kane received his
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Washington State
University. He received his undergraduate degree from the
University of Washington in cellular and molecular biology in 1997.
Prior to attending Veterinary School, he worked for 12 years as a
carpenter and general contractor in King County.
“Veterinary medicine appealed to
me because it is the true form of medicine. This profession allows
me to practice different areas of medicine, and also allows me to
interact with the animals and the people of my patients. My
interest started when my Uncle gave me his old lab. He was a pretty
cool dog, and when I first got him, he would run home to my Uncle’s
house that lived 30 miles away.”
This Seattle native shares his
life with his school sweetheart Carolyn, their newborn son David,
and of course their family dog Buddy. Dr. Kane is excited to be a
new member of the Gig Harbor community and looks forward to many
years of service.
His dedication to people and
animals is what drove him to choose a career in veterinary medicine.
His interests are orthopedics, dentistry and geriatrics.
Dr Kane’s hobbies
include bicycling, hiking, and carpentry. He also enjoys working on
his 1949 blue Chevrolet pickup. Make sure to drive by the clinic
during the spring and take a gander at this blue beauty.

Dr. Dorthy Kielkopf
 |
|
Dr. Dorothy Kielkopf grew up
around the country, her parents being in the army. She attended
Penn State and received her undergraduate degree in Political
Science and geography. She worked with the government for a
brief time, and then decided to return to school and received
her Veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania,
graduating in 1998. She has been practicing since in the Puget
Sound region.
“Being a Veterinarian, I
feel I am able to make a tangible difference in the lives of
people and their pets. I left my government job because I saw
no end to my work, but working with pets, I find a common ground
with their owners because we both care for the same thing.”
Her strengths lie in
diagnosing difficult internal medicine cases, and also in
treating pets with cancer.
She spends her free time
tinkering in her garden, reading a fine book, and cracking cross
word puzzles. She is also an avid soccer player. Her pets
include eight cats, and one dog. |
