Happy New Year to all of our clients, friends, and family members!

We hope that 2008 is a banner year for all of us.  As we put 2007 behind us, we would like to thank all of you for your support and trust over the past year.  As we strive to make Evergreen Animal Hospital more successful in 2008 and offer more services, we would like to share with you some of the changes going on at our hospital.

We will be offering a 15% savings on dental cleaning for the next 2 months.  This is in celebration with National Pet Dental Health Month.

Plaque builds up on your pet’s teeth just as it does on your own.  This build up can lead to abscessed teeth and periodontal disease.   70% of all pets have some form of dental disease by age 3.  A thorough dental cleaning may be needed to minimize the risk of bacteria from the mouth spreading to other organs.

If plaque continues to accumulate, it will mineralize to tartar; brushing alone will not remove it.  Professional cleaning and polishing are needed.  We have special dental equipment to cleanse and polish the teeth, and a digital X-ray machine to examine the roots of the teeth as well.   A clean mouth is essential for good health.

We have started monthly grief counseling classes.  The loss of anyone beloved, whether human or pet is an emotional time.  Different feelings come to play, and many people may feel anxious or confused.  Some people do not accept the human animal bond as a valid relationship making it more difficult to talk with someone regarding the loss and grief you feel.  Please call the office for the times and dates of our monthly grief counseling classes.  All classes are led be a certified marriage and family counselor.  These classes are complimentary for our clients and community.

Confused by your Chow cross?  Wondering if there is some poodle in your Labrador?  A new blood test, called the Wisdom Panel, is available to identify what breeds make up your mixed breed dog.  Not only will this answer the age old question, “What is in there?” but by identifying the breeds, we may be able to alert the owner to watch for certain breed specific diseases.  More information is available at www.wisdompanel.com.

Our holiday raffle was a success!  We raised $64.00 for the Noah pet project.  This nonprofit organization provides basic veterinary care for low income people and their pets.  Thank you all for donating.

Again, let me again thank you for your support.  If you have any suggestions, criticisms, or compliments, please feel free to contact me, or Denise.

Let’s have a great 2008!!!

Bart and Denise Iaia and all of us at Evergreen Animal Hospital.
